Katniss notices that Rue completely trusts her because after the anthem, Rue snuggles up to her. The next day they go blow up the Careers' food supplies. They decide that they need a distraction. The distraction is Rue setting three fires, drawing the Careers to each fire; farther away from their supplies. Katniss learns that there are land mines around the supplies. Katniss has to come up with a solution to that problem. She then decides to shoot three arrows into the apples, causing an explosion.
